Link Kory became the EWA Champion after a 6 month struggle towards the title. LK & Tyler Hilton began the year as a tag team and ended that team at EWA "Championship Chaos" in January. Tyler had aspirations of going to Florida to train with Team 3D in hopes of gaining a WWE contract. LK was happy for his longtime friend but decided to stay in Maryland and focus on his singles career. LK won a contract for a heavyweight title shot at Evolution 2.0 in February, outlasting 10 other men in a 2 ring ladder match. LK got his shot in March at Fight The Power against EWA Champion Eagle, but LK was defeated in about 3 minutes with assistance from Eagles manager, Jim Christian. Tyler Hilton returned to EWA at our FREE show in May and announced that he would like to be the special guest referee for LK vs Zachary Shane at our June event, Settling the Score. Tyler explained that since LK, Shane and Tyler all got their start together as the original Rehobeth Beach Crew, they were like brothers and he wanted to be the 'big brother' to help LK and Zack squash their beef. LK got the pin, after which ref Tyler Hilton turned on LK and attacked him with no explanation. LK earned another title shot at our July event, The Future Is Now, and the EWA Matchmaker announced that this would be a no disqualification, no countout, pinfalls count anywhere match. LK took full advantage of the situation by putting a beating on both Eagle and Jim Christian. Tyler Hilton hit the ring with a chair in hand and seemed to be ready to help Eagle attack LK, but instead Hilton blasted Eagle with the chair behind the refs & LKs back, allowing LK to hit his finishing move for the pin in the middle of the ring to become NEW EWA Heavyweight Champion. After a brief moment of celebration, LK was attacked by Hilton yet again and beat down all around the ringside area. Hilton explained his actions by saying LK forgot all about him while he was gone and would not be anything without him. Hilton showed that he is the reason LK won the title and will be the man to defeat LK for the heayweight title at AUTUMN ARMAGEDDON!

This match came about after Greg Excellent announced himself as now a solo wrestler and wanted to earn a shot at the EWA Heavyweight title. In an interview on EWAMaryland.com, Excellent explained that he didnt care who he had to go through to prove himself, invluding former EWA Heavyweight Champion DJ Hyde. Hyde was pissed off to say the least after his Christian Academy partner Eagle losing the EWA title and accepted the challenge on the spot. This battle will be between two of the biggest wrestlers in the state of Maryland.

EWA tag team champions Teddy & Ryan have shown themselves to be the most popular and one of the most dominant tag teams in the Maryland area. Beside being EWA tag team champions since February, they recently main evented Night One of the Shane Shamrock Cup in a Ladder match against MCW Tag Champions Ghetto Mafia. Ryan & Teddy are also tag team champions in GBW, based out of Pennsylvania. When people talk about the Future of Maryland Wrestling, two of the 1st names mentioned are Ryan & Teddy. nEs, Lunar & Diaz, have slowly made their way up the EWA tag team rankings after a rough start. If these self professed video game junkies can keep the video games in the back, they should be able to give Ryan & Teddy a decent challenge on September 21st.
